Larroudé x Candy Pratts Price: the collab between two fashion icons

“September is the January in fashion.” This phrase perfectly summarizes the world of fashion. After all, the ninth month is when the runway seasons kick off globally, bringing the trends of the coming year, besides being the most important edition of Vogue—one of the main references in the business. The woman behind such an iconic statement is none other than fashion veteran Candy Pratts Price.

Who Is Candy Pratts Price

Born into a Puerto Rican family in New York, Candy Pratts Price was exposed to all kinds of cultural activity—something that had a direct influence on her work throughout her career.

After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, she began creating window displays for the luxury department store chain Bloomingdale’s, in the 1970s. There, she completely reinvented the concept of window dressing: she focused on ultra-creative visuals, transforming the displays behind the glass into true works of art, much more than just a display of garments. Her work was so unique that it even caught the attention of none other than Queen Elizabeth II. How incredible is that?

Following that, she served in leadership roles for renowned brands: she was Creative Director at Ralph Lauren, Fashion Director at Harper’s Bazaar, and Accessories Director at Vogue—where she worked alongside Anna Wintour herself. Her most iconic stint, however, was probably as Executive Fashion Director at the now-defunct Style.com. There, she popularized access to the major fashion week runway shows by publishing photos online—thus, what was once restricted to fashion editors and buyers became viewable by the entire world.

A Good Stalker

It was also Style.com that made our most recent collab possible, as Larroudé co-founder and Creative Director, Marina Larroudé, worked directly with Candy. The beginning of that partnership, however, is curious—to say the least. “I was walking into my building one day, and the doorman said a young woman had left flowers for me. I don’t mean to brag, but I get a lot of flowers from a lot of people,” Candy recalls. These specific flowers, however, came with something extra. “A résumé and a card inside. I walked into my apartment, and Marina’s husband got into the elevator. He mentioned what his wife had left for me, and I was like, ‘There’s a stalker in the building’,” she recounts. Marina’s audacity paid off. “I interviewed her because we were in the process of building the men’s portion of Style.com. I told my editor to take her with him, they loved her, and in the end, I was right—she’s a good stalker!”

The Collab That Became A Must-Have

Even years after working together, Marina and Candy maintained a close relationship. “I owe so much of what I know today to Candy, so creating a collab felt completely natural”, Marina details. This is how Larroudé x CPPXO was born. The inspiration for the shoe designs comes from everything that CPP—as she is known—appreciates: clean lines, versatile and sober colors, a touch of sensuality, and plenty of elegance. The result is four new styles: three pumps and one loafer, all reimagined through Candy Pratts Price’s sharp and daring lens.

The Pump

Featuring an ultra-sharp toe, the Candy Pratts Price Pump comes in two colors—black and white—and has a metallic sphere detail that elevates the style to a true statement piece. Perfect for combining with cropped black trousers and an oversized white shirt for a minimalist and powerful look.

The D'Orsay

With a slightly less elongated toe, the Candy Pratts Price D’Orsay features the classic cut-out on the side of the foot, exposing just the right amount of skin. While most D'Orsay styles use satin, this one is made of denim packed with hand-stitched rhinestones—the touch of rebellion that we all love about CPP. Our tip? Wear it with a sleek slip dress for a chic evening look, or pair it with tailored trousers and a minimal top for an office look that goes straight to dinner.

The Ankle Strap Pump

The definition of practical style, designed for busy days that require the perfect shoe. As Candy herself defined it, with some irony, “every girl needs something around her ankle—no fetish involved”. This pump features an adjustable ankle strap for that very reason. Create a modern mix with cropped tailored pants and an oversized blazer for work, or with a fluid midi dress for an evening out.

The Loafer

The sole is as thin as a wafer—yet comfortable due to the cushioned insole—and is paired with a soft, pliable leather upper, making this loafer the most versatile shoe in any closet. Combine it with straight-leg jeans and a structured blazer for a casual chic vibe.
