The Daisy Drop Campaign Stars: Chen Yu

The Daisy Drop Campaign Stars: Chen Yu

Larroudé’s High Summer campaign star Chen Yu didn’t always plan to pursue modeling full-time. The native of Yantai, China, was scouted while attending a prestigious fashion design school in Shanghai, where she modeled her own collections. Soon after, she made her career debut at Shanghai Fashion Week and landed editorials in Elle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Grazia. Amid her burgeoning career, she’s somehow found time to continue her work as an artist, painting portraits and refining her singular, fantastical style in the countless sketchbooks and canvases around her home.

Below, Chen chats with Larroudé about the High Summer collection, working with campaign costar Sheila, and what it means to have ageless style.

Describe Larroudé’s High Summer collection with one word.

Amusing.

What was your favorite part of shooting this campaign?

When I got to shoot a few pictures with Sheila, her energy was just incredible. It was like we were really a family shooting a portrait together.

If you were a Larroudé shoe, which would you be?

I would be the Blair mule: chic, classy, and with a relaxed, playful twist.

How did it feel to shoot with a fellow model of a different generation?

It was definitely an exciting and enriching experience. I feel like our different backgrounds and perspectives added something more fun and unique ways to be able to express ourselves in front of the camera.

Larroudé’s motto is "You. Us. We. All." What does inclusive fashion mean to you?

Inclusive fashion, to me, means creating clothing and accessories that cater to people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. It means making fashion accessible to everyone and celebrating diversity and individuality.

What advice would you give someone who wants to be more adventurous with their style, but hesitates because of their age?

My advice would be to start small by incorporating one new statement piece into your wardrobe at a time. Experiment with different textures, colors, and styles to find what you feel comfortable and confident in. Remember, fashion has no age limit, and it’s never too late to try something new.
