On October 21, Gwyneth Paltrow made a triumphant return to Netflix with Sex, Love & goop, a docuseries focused on enhancing the relationships of four real couples. It may not be as controversial as its predecessor, The goop Lab (who could forget its psychedelic-infused first episode?), but it's stirred up plenty of conversation online since its release. And yet, that's not what I'm here to discuss — I'd rather talk about the surprising boots Paltrow wore to the series premiere.
Last week, the vagina candle connoisseur strode the event's red carpet in an ivory maxi dress and sweater from Adam Lippes's latest resort collection, which she cinched at the waist with a matching belt. She capped off the look with Larroudé's Barb boots in a similar hue. The shoes might look simple at first glance, but upon closer inspection, they bear an uncanny resemblance to a pair of classic cowboy boots. That nod to the wild west might be something you'd expect from Kacey Musgraves, but Paltrow? She's the patron saint of the polished LA aesthetic, which tends to favor Pilates over a life spent horseback.
You might have first discovered Larroudé under the arm of Jill Biden. She carried the brand's Erin clutch during a visit with the Queen of England in June, and again at the Tokyo Olympics Opening Ceremony in July. Since then, the brand's shoes and accessories have been seen on the likes of Normani and the inimitable Tommy Dorfman.
Paltrow's pale white boots might seem like a risk to those who live among rain and snow, but luckily, they're also available in black and dark gray suede. Yes, they're almost $400, but each pair is manufactured by artisans in Brazil with leather from local tanneries.
The Larroudé Barb boots are almost fully stocked in sizes 5 to 11, but that won't be the case once goop devotees identify them. In other words, order your favorite color while you still can.
