A purveyor of all things cool, this classic New Yorker is known for her discerning eye and impeccable taste. Her love—and pursuit—of footwear in her sample size has been just one of the stylistic journeys in her unexpected life.
First of all, how are you doing?
I'm doing great. I'm enjoying watching New York City transition and keeping up with my friends.
If you could send a DM to your younger self, what would it be?
Expect to be astonished. No predictions.
Describe your first memorable shoe-buying experience? Where were you, what did you buy, and how did you feel?
I am a sample shoe size so I have a lot of great shoe adventures. On one occasion, I fell in love with a pair of Christian Lacroix couture purple satin shoes in the window at Bergdorf Goodman. I asked the size and had them taken out of the display. They fit and were sold to me not through the shoe department but through the display prop department. I only wore them once but still adore them.
How do you feel about being in the first group of women featuring Larroudé?
It is a supreme honor. I met Marina at Brazilian jeweler Jack Vartanian's shop. I then worked with her at Barney's. She's fabulous and a visionary. I'm flattered she has chosen me to be a part of her vanguard.
What brings you joy lately?
My joy lately are the books I'm reading. I belong to a socially-distanced book club of extraordinary women from around the country, and our selections are unique. I also love shopping, walking around the city in the early morning, and finding treasures.
What is your secret dream (post-pandemic, of course)?
When we can travel, I am excited to experience Berlin for the first time. I'm also looking forward to returning to Paris, London, and Palm Springs.
