Larroudé x Nicolò B.: The Collab Between Brazil and Italy

To celebrate this monumental launch, our co-founder and Creative Director, Marina Larroudé, sat down with Nicolò for a chat about their decade-long friendship, the creative process, and what makes these shoes so special.

Marina and Nicolò first met about eight or nine years ago when Nicolò launched his brand, Giannico, at the luxury department store where Marina was the fashion director.

Marina: “I introduced him at Barney's, and it was such a success. We've been friends ever since, and I adore his designs. Earlier this year, when we were in Milan, I said, 'Nicolò, we need to make something happen with Larroudé!’”

What makes the partnership even more special is the mutual trust. Nicolò, who has primarily manufactured in Italy, was won over by Larroudé's Brazilian quality.

Nicolò: “As an Italian designer who has always manufactured in Italy, I confess I was skeptical about producing outside. Now, I say: I will not leave Brazil! The quality is supreme. The shoes are so luxurious, feminine, and beautiful.”

The collection’s key highlight is a sculptural 4.3-inch heel that challenged the limits of footwear engineering. “It took us time to develop because it's quite tall yet slim... It was super challenging to engineer this silhouette. We are so happy with the result”, Marina details.

The collection is rooted in what Nicolò considers essential for a woman's wardrobe, but always viewed through a modern and cool lens.

Nicolò: “I love Larroudé; it's such a smart and cool project, so I wanted to focus on beautiful shapes and create what I think should be the basics for a woman, but interpreted in the coolest way possible”, the Italian explains. He further shares the inspiration behind the styles: “We focused on the shapes of the female body and how a pump, a flat, or a boot can really elongate and emphasize your legs and feet.”

Nicolò's talent is well-established, and Marina made sure to mention the major personalities who mentored him, such as Franca Sozzani—the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia—and Manolo Blahnik.

“Franca, Manolo—my mentor at the start of my career—and, of course, you, Marina, are incredible people. It is very rare to run into such talented individuals, and I am so happy we maintained this connection”, Nicolò reflects.

The collection is already generating international buzz. “We already have amazing celebrities asking for the shoes!”, says Nicolò. Marina: “Everyone, if you want the shoes, buy them quickly, because this is a limited edition and it’s selling out fast!”
