A Guide to Nantucket

A Guide to Nantucket

Oh Nantucket, the little island where the hydrangeas are blooming and sails are set all summer long! This guide will help you discover the best of the island. From favorite local spots to hidden gems. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, there’s always something new to enjoy on the fabulous island of Nantucket.

Perched on the edge of Nantucket Harbor, The White Elephant offers a stay that captures the essence of the island. Timeless, elegant, and effortlessly coastal. It has become one of Nantucket’s favorite stays!

Another excellent option for hotels is The Wauwinet, a peaceful retreat tucked away on the island’s northeastern shore. Known for its serene setting and refined atmosphere, it’s ideal for those looking to unwind in a more secluded location. The on-site restaurant, Topper’s, is perfect for a more special dinner. Time your reservation around sunset and you’ll be treated to a stunning scene: golden light over the water and rolling green lawns.

Walk into town, up the cobblestone street to find The Hub! This is a local favorite and great for your morning coffee and pastry. They also sell all kinds of knick knacks, books, and keepsakes!

Now... I can't recommend Black Eyed Susan's enough for the best breakfast on the island. Its an old school, put-your-name-down type of place. I would recommend getting their pretty early. If not, just be ready for a little bit of a wait. Don't worry, while you wait for your table you can walk around town!

What to order:

Ok, so last summer I spent quite some time up in Nantucket, and I had the same Black Eyed Susans order every morning! A classic scramble with a side of grits or black eyed peas (depending on the mood) and the overnight oats to share. I would pair this with a classic hot coffee with a side of almond milk. The sweet gals come by and refill all morning!

After breakfast, head across the street to Hospital Thrift Shop to find a hidden gem.

Fun fact:

Since 1929, the Hospital Thrift Store has turned sale proceeds from gently used items into much-needed medical equipment, services, and staff housing for the Nantucket Cottage Hospital.

Hop on over to For Now. The little boutique where the cool girls shop!! Dee and Hannah sell the best brands (including Sheridan for Tish)! I held a pop up at the store last summer and fell in love with the uniqueness of this boutique. They truly do it all and have become a huge community builder on the island. Shoutout @its.fornow

Rent some bikes from Young’s and take the scenic route! This is also a great way to get around the island in general.

Beach time! Head down to Jetties Beach. Yes, that is the famous Gray Malin photograph! This is the best beach to kick back and relax for the perfect beach day.

After you're beach day, stop at the 167 Raw Fish Market food truck for the best lobster roll and Tuna poke.

Another fabulous mid day snack option is Bartlett Farms. You can find basically anything you might be craving here. This is my personal favorite!

Dinner at LoLa 41 in town is the way to go for the best sushi. Again, you might have a hard time snagging a reservation, being that it's everybody's favorite sushi spot on the island. It's also right around the corner from The White Elephant!

In case of inclement weather:

For a rainy night in after your long beach day, Pi Pizza is the best for delivery. Just make sure to order right when they open- it seems that everybody gets the same idea when it rains!

For a little something sweet after dinner, walk down to The Juice Bar for the best ice cream. They're is a line wrapped around the block every night without fail. Don't worry, the line moves quick!! A classic cone with rainbow sprinkles is the way to go.
