The genius behind the lens, there’s no other photographer Marina trusted more to bring her vision to life. Having worked together over the years, Hunter Abrams is someone who knew Marina, her aesthetic, and her inherent playfulness, which they brilliantly captured in the campaign images—including some shot over Zoom.
First of all, how are you doing?
Doing well, thanks for asking :)
If you could send a DM to your younger self, what would it be?
Stop comparing yourself and your journey to other people and just be patient.
Describe your first memorable shoe-buying experience? Where were you, what did you buy, and how did you feel?
I very much remember doing my first big photo job and the week I got the check running to Saint Laurent to buy my first pair of designer shoes. I felt great and then I was in pain when I realized I had to break in the shoes a bit but I love those shoes and I still wear them. My mother was livid when she found out how much I paid for them but I've never bought another pair of black boots because those ones are just so perfect.
How do you feel about being in the first group of women featuring Larroudé?
I feel incredibly honored to have been able to work with Marina and Ricardo on this and she has made me feel so at home and free, I truly feel like an honorary member of the Larroudé family.
What brings you joy lately?
The fourth season of The Crown, nearly any TikTok that features a dog, the results of The 2020 US Presidential Election, fresh raspberries, almost daily facetimes with my best friends, Shani Darden's Retinol Reform, and the knowledge that I will never run out of things to photograph.
What is your secret dream (post-pandemic, of course)?
Ok so I have two post pandemic travel fantasies...
1) My best friend Rooney and I go to Paris for a few days before taking the train to Lyon and later the South of France for a trip full of food, wine, and culture.
2) Two months. India. Unlimited amount of 120mm film. No cellphone. No emails. No deadlines.
